WHAT IS A BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT?
Business Improvement Districts are a proven model to help create and sustain more vibrant, attractive, and economically resilient places. Using a special assessment on properties within a specified geography, BIDs help to fund enhanced services—including clean and safe programs, district marketing, and business support—that are tailored to the unique historic and cultural identity of the districts they serve. All BID services are supplemental and designed to enhance, yet not replace, existing municipal services.
WHAT WILL THE VISTA BID DO?
The proposed Vista Business Improvement District is a property owner-led initiative designed to provide a cleaner, safer, and more vibrant experience for everyone who visits, works, and lives in The Vista. The BID formation process is driven by a collective commitment to ensuring the district remains a destination rooted in the uniqueness of The Vista’s arts and cultural history, leisure and hospitality offerings, and public programming. To reinforce the district’s longstanding arts and culture identity, a primary goal of the improvement plan is to continue that legacy and support the artists, creatives, and makers living and working in The Vista. The BID will provide dedicated staff and funding focused on four key priority areas.
Clean & Safe
A consistent funding stream to ensure a clean, secure, and welcoming environment for every resident, visitor, and tenant.
Economic Prosperity
An economic development strategy that increases economic growth, protects and enhances property values, and brings development to underutilized space.
District Identity
A more vibrant public realm through curated activities that strengthen The Vista’s uniqueness, energy, and longstanding arts and culture identity.
Unified Leadership
A coordinated, powerful voice and champion that advocates for district priorities and coordinates decision-making with the City and Vista partners.
